With the luxury of a day off and some low winter sun I set off for the pier at Southend-on-Sea, armed with a pinhole camera and some film for a perfect day of slow photography.
Taking in the sea air….
Pier views, the second of which features the train speeding by.
It was so warm and sunny that I took lunch outdoors, captured by a minute long exposure on my pinhole camera.
Long winter shadows and some lovely flare from the sun.
A super-wide angle camera allowed me to photograph above and below the pier at the same time!
Alone…
Waiting for the train. I actually walked both ways (the pier is 1.3 miles long) but I couldn’t leave without photographing one of the old trains.
The ghost of Southend Pier.
Homeward bound - still a long way to walk!
