My first instinct was to title today's post 'drive by shooting', for reasons that'll become obvious in due course. Of course, it then struck me that perhaps this might sound rather suspicious so I decided against it!

It's common knowledge that we're not very good at dealing with even quite small quantities of snow in this country, even if it's forecast in advance. Unfortunately, a few centimetres of snow fell overnight to coincide with a mass exodus of people onto the roads, heading home after Christmas. Of course, that included us so we joined the throng heading back towards London and kept our fingers crossed the traffic would be kind.
I'm not convinced this is the sort of character you should post outside a meeting room - he doesn't exactly look welcoming!
Architecture, old and new
We stopped off at Wisley Gardens for lunch which was delicious but the arctic wind and heavy sleety rain didn't give us any desire to go for a walk around the gardens afterwards. That left me without a photo for my blog so I planned to shoot something when I got home instead. As we headed back out onto the road we were astonished when our satnav re-routed us through the centre of London to avoid the total chaos on the motorways. Normally this would be an exceptionally bad idea but we figured the traffic would be lighter at this festive time so we followed the advice and headed towards the city centre.
As we travelled through the Limehouse Link Tunnel in east London I thought I'd shoot a picture for the 'movement' theme on a Facebook group I frequent. Initially I wanted one sharp point of focus but I decided this rather abstract approach worked well too!
As we drove through Battersea inspiration struck and I figured I might be able to find something to photograph from the car en-route. I kept my eyes alert and my camera to hand for the rest of the journey (which turned out to be counter intuitively easy) and came away with a handful of pictures, many of which were taken as we sped by - hence the initial inspiration for my blog post title!
